How to create an umbrella using paper plate for a kids art project

Looking for activities to do with your child on a rainy day? Try making a paper plate umbrella with just a few items.

Supplies you will need:

Paper plate umbrella activity supplies
  • Paper plate.
  • Download My Teaching Station Umbrella Template.
  • Scissors.
  • Paper glue.
  • Blue and brown colored papper.
  • Blue yarn.
  • Blue paint.
  • Paint brush.

 

Directions:

  1. Download and print Umbrella Template.

  2. Cut the paper plate in half.
  3. Trace the rain drops on the blue paper using the umbrella template print-out.
  4. Cut out the rain drops.
    Use scissors to cut out the rain drops from the traced blue paper
  5. Glue the rain drops on 5 or 6 small strips of yarn (3 to 4 inches long).

  6. Trace the umbrella handle the brown paper using the umbrella template print-out.
  7. Cut out the umbrella handle and glue it on the half plate.

  8. Glue the yarn strips on the back of the paper plate

  9. Paint the half paper plate using blue paint.
